SynLube™ Lube‑4‑Life® can reduce the operating temperature of equipment.
How does this work?
There are several systems where we have observed substantial reduction in the operating temperature compared to Mineral Oils, or Conventional PAO based Synthetic Oils.
These are:
Why does this happen?
It can be understood by looking at the thermal conductivity and specific heat of the base oils when compared to SynLube™.
Thermal conductivity is the measure of the ability to conduct heat.
Thermal conductivity at 300°F (150°C) for PAO #6 is 0.085 Btu•ft/(h•ft2•°F) compared to 0.071 Btu•ft/(h•ft2•°F) for an equiviscous mineral oil, which means that the PAO can conduct 20% more heat than mineral oil for better heat dissipation.
Thermal conductivity at 300°F (150°C) for SynLube Lube‑4‑Life® SAE 5W-50 Motor Oil is even higher at 0.092 Btu•ft/(h•ft2•°F), which means that SynLube™ can conduct 8% more heat than best of PAO based synthetic motor oils and almost 30% more heat than a typical mineral oil based motor oil.
NO MAGIC HERE - Just plain Thermal Fact
Specific heat is the amount of heat per unit mass
required to raise the temperature by one degree Celsius (or Kelvin).
PAO has a higher specific heat than mineral oil, which means that the PAO is better at absorbing heat.
Yet the Colloidal SynLube™ has
even higher specific heat than PAO, therefore it is even better at absorbing heat.
Since Specific Heat is both TEMPERATURE and VOLUME dependent, it is easier to explain it with Graph below:
NO MAGIC HERE - Just another Thermal Fact
So to sum it all up, SynLube™ at first absorbs MORE heat from the mechanism, which means that more thermal energy has to be transferred into SynLube™ before its TEMPERATURE rises by one degree Celsius (or 1.8 degree F).
Subsequently this accumulated heat energy is transferred at much faster rate to the "HEAT SINK" where the heat is transferred to the coolant media or the environment.
The MAGICAL RESULT?
Lower Operating Temperature !
